What boat wax to use and how to apply it?

Boat Cleaners

Well it's time to open the "big ole can a worms": What boat wax to use and how to apply it?

Everyone has "their opinion" and I'm right there with them.

I have a 1983 Hatteras 53 MY and it was painted with IMRON paint. That's a plastic kind of paint that lasts for a very long time (37 years so far) and actually flexes a little so makes it perfect for boats. SO, I am very careful not to buff too aggressively.

I start by using a foam pad and Presta Ultra Cutting creme. It says aggressive on the label but I haven't found that to be true. This removes the marks and dirt in the paint. I then buff it off with a wool pad, gently, wipe the surface with a microfiber towel and then follow it up with 2 coats of Aquatech polish.

It lasts and lasts, we travel the ICW and it is know for the "ICW mustache" (a stain on the waterline at the front of the boat after traveling on the ICW.

We have no marks and everyone asks what are you doing?? Cleaning it every night or what? Nope don't even wash it most times..nothing sticks to this polish. Easy to use and it works.

By the way I use the Shurhold random polisher. If you don't have one, get it. All my friends that borrowed it, bought one as well!
